A day in the life of... a Deep Tech Startup Accelerator Manager at CSIRO (Automated, Team based)

The 'Day in the Life' workplace simulation puts learners into the shoes of a new employee, and they are challenged to complete a series of work tasks. The app features an employee of the company and supports a learner team through the experience. Students work together to complete tasks, upload their submissions (1 per team), self evaluate, and provide feedback to team mates through a team 360. They are provided with a pre-recorded example of a work product and an explanation. Students complete a reflection at the end of the experience.

In this experience, learners play the role of Investment Associates with CSIRO 'ON' - Australia’s national ‘deep technology’ accelerator. 'ON' invests in supporting research teams develop an investable startup business based on their technology.

Students will help Accelerator Co-Founder & Director David Burt assess 4 submissions to apply an investment framework to assess the real applications of R&D teams developing startup companies around medical device, facial recognition software, thermal energy storage materials and biosensor technologies.
Learners will review the submissions, provide their own background assessment of the value propositions and provide David their recommendation of which teams most fit the selection criteria.
