Open to all Australian university and TAFE students in their penultimate year of study. (Note: Exceptions may be made for students earlier in their degree, based on our program selection criteria.)

Who can apply to the program?

All Australian university and TAFE students are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to students in their penultimate year of study, and close to entering the workforce. Diversity will be considered when selecting students for this opportunity.

Note: a background in IT and prior AWS learning is preferred, but not mandatory. 

What’s the expected student commitment? When does the program take place?

The program will run from 9 am to 5 pm over the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July, 2024. 

Attendance is mandatory (sessions will not be recorded) and students are required to commit to 24 hours of participation, spread across three days. Additionally, students are expected to work in a team environment and deliver a final presentation on their project. They should also maintain a collegial working relationship with their Amazon mentor.

Is the program delivered online?

The program is delivered online through a combination of virtual seminars, workshops, and hands-on experience in the AWS Console.  

What does the program involve for the participating students?

Students participate in various activities, including online seminars and workshops, hands-on projects, and self-directed work. You will also be expected to work in a team, hold conversations with your Amazon mentor, and be prepared to make a final presentation to Amazon stakeholders.

Has this program been run previously or is it a new initiative?

This is a new AWS initiative, powered by Practera, for university and TAFE students to acquire cloud computing skills necessary for success.

Does everyone get a certificate and digital badge?

This is contingent upon students’ attendance and project submission. If all of this is completed, then you’ll receive the certificate and badge.

What are the selection criteria for this program?

To be eligible, you must be in your penultimate year of Australian university or tertiary education studies. If you have a demonstrated passion, interest, and participation in cloud computing activities, it will be an advantage. Finally, your answers to the questions in the forms above will be evaluated .
